What: Special Eclipse State Penn Tour Where: 115 Lafayette St When: 11 am - 2 pm Cost: $25 p/p  SOLD OUT Observe the Total Eclipse of 2017 with us at Missouri State Penitentiary.  The tour will be two (2) hours in length and then you will have the opportunity to stay and observe the Total Eclipse, that will occur at approximately 1:10 p.m.,  from Inside the Walls of this beautiful prison.  Special Eclipse glasses will be provided as part of the eclipse experience.   [more info]

What: Total Eclipse of the Katy Trail Where: Rocheport to Jefferson City When: 10 am to 2 pm Cost: $50 per rider SOLD OUT Experience the first total solar eclipse viewable in Missouri in nearly 150 years on a special Katy Trail bicycle ride. Because Katy Trail State Park is located in the “path of totality” of this historic eclipse, it will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to follow the “Total Eclipse of the Katy” and experience “Darkness during Daylight.”  The 36-mile ride is limited to 500 people.  [This event is sold out] [more info]

What: NASA TV Where: Steps of the Supreme Court Building When: TBD Cost: Free viewing Watch NASA TV go LIVE from Jefferson City as the eclipse crosses our path.  Our city will be one of seven from which the space agency broadcasts a live feed of the solar eclipse. What: Capital City Bicycle Pub Crawl Where: Red Wheel Bike Shop/400 West Main When: 4 pm Cost: Free 21+ (participants buy own beverages) Eclipse visitors will have a chance to mix with Jefferson City locals for the first of several bike events planned in association with the Capital Eclipse. The pub crawl will be a layed back ride around town, except on this ride we stop at a few bars for a quick drink and a few laughs. What: Capital City Pedal Tours Where: Noren Access (free parking) When: 9 am, 10 am, 1 pm and 2 pm Cost: $25 p/p. Min 5, Max 20 riders per tour (BYOBike or rent from Red Wheel) Learn more about Jefferson City attractions on this easy 1.5-2 hour ride. Departs from the Noren access and travels the Missouri River Pedestrian Bridge to the Supreme Court, National Cemetery, Missouri State Penitentiary, Jefferson Landing Historic Site, Missouri State Capitol and back to north Jefferson City.  Led by seasoned cyclists from around Jefferson City who have great familiarity of the city and bicycles for casual conversations and make recommendations about the city. What: Eclipse Gravel Ride Where: North Jefferson City When: 8 am Cost: FREE (self supported) Free group ride (not a race) of about 20-25 miles before the eclipse. We'll ride the Missouri River Bottoms, a little Katy Trail, and then some hills. If you don't want to do hills you're welcome to take the Katy Trail back to N. Jeff. Map link  This ride is completely self supported. Bring your own water, food, tools, etc. Note: while this ride can be done on almost any bike a drop bar "gravel bike" is recommended. What: Nighttime Telescope Viewing - Meetup Where: Missouri State Capitol - south lawn When: 9 pm to 11 pm Cost: Free Join the Camden County Astronomy Club and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources on the SE corner of the capital lawn (toward the corner High/Jefferson) for a little nighttime celestial viewing during the Dark Side of the Moon - Pink Floyd Tribute concert. Bring your own equipment or take a turn with one of the club's. All levels of experience and expertise are welcome. What: NASA TV Where: Steps of the Supreme Court Building When: TBD Cost: Free viewing Watch NASA TV go LIVE from Jefferson City as the eclipse crosses our path.  Our city will be one of seven from which the space agency broadcasts a live feed of the solar eclipse. NASA also plans to film the solar eclipse from Charleston, South Carolina, to parts of western Oregon to allow researchers to study eclipses. NASA will also have the Journey to Tomorrow trailer, a mobile museum on hand at the Capital for free tours.

What: NASA’s Journey to Tomorrow Traveling Exhibit Where: Missouri State Capitol When: 10 am to 4 pm Cost: Free Journey to Tomorrow is one of NASA's premier traveling exhibits. Based at the NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio, the 53-foot exhibit trailer brings the excitement of exploration in air and space in a unique and interactive learning environment. Inside you will find a variety of activities including eight interactive kiosks that provide opportunity for exploring at your own pace. Examples include Earth Minute, NASA Home and City which highlights spinoff products created from NASA's research programs, Curiosity Rover on Mars, Brain Bites that explain common questions about air and space travel, Aeronautics, and Dynamic Planet, a hands-on interactive that allows you to explore the Earth, Sun, and Solar System. Additional workstations include glovebox activities, a planetary gravity demonstrator and holographic displays showcasing NASA technology in a unique three- dimensional format. What: Eclipse Gravel Ride Where: North Jefferson City When: 8 am Cost: FREE (self supported) Free group ride (not a race) of about 20-25 miles before the eclipse. We'll ride the Missouri River Bottoms, a little Katy Trail, and then some hills. If you don't want to do hills you're welcome to take the Katy Trail back to N. Jeff. Map link  This ride is completely self supported. Bring your own water, food, tools, etc. Note: while this ride can be done on almost any bike a drop bar "gravel bike" is recommended. Bring your own equipment or take a turn with one of the club's. All levels of experience and expertise are welcome.
